This original artwork captures the magic of the Northern Lights dancing above the wild Atlantic Ocean surrounding the Shetland Islands. Inspired by the incredible aurora displays often seen from the shoreline near my home in Scalloway, this piece brings together the movement of sea and sky in one striking composition.
Layers of resin, acrylic paint and alcohol ink create depth and luminosity, allowing the waves to appear almost three-dimensional as they break across the surface. The sweeping bands of aurora glow with rich greens, turquoise and shimmering gold, reflecting the dramatic night skies that Shetland is famous for.
Each wave has been carefully formed by hand, capturing the energy and rhythm of the ocean – something I experience daily living beside these powerful northern waters.

How It's Made
Each piece of artwork within the Sea Glass collection is made from glass collected by Sarah from a beach in Shetland. Varying in colours and shapes, sea glass can be found in abundance here in Shetland, having been washed up on the shoreline after a storm.
Sarah hand picks each piece of sea glass then cleans and sorts them into sizes and colours before incorporating them into her artwork.

Polish if necessary using Original T-Cut car polish.
