Resin Artwork.

Resin Artwork.

I have discovered a new medium – resin!

Resin is is a clear plastic which can be mistaken for glass, it is so shiny and transparent. It can be moulded into anything. Really, imagination is the limit!

I started off with simple rectangle shaped keyrings and used shells and beach finds to set into the resin.

These have turned out great, and I’m delighted to say they are being stocked in local shops already! It’s lovely to be able to offer something new.

Mackenzies Farm shop at Cunningsburgh, the Hoswick visitor Centre, the Boat Haven in Unst and - in Orkney , A Yarn - all have a large selection.

I’ve enjoyed learning how to use this medium so much, it really is addictive! For the summer I plan to collect flowers from my garden to set into chunky bangles and much more. The potential is endless, and I’m pleased to be able to offer something unique.

There is also the possibility of designing my own moulds to make unique shapes! It is a refreshing change from painting pictures too.
