Mosaics for 2017!

Hello

I hope January is treating you well so far!

I've been getting stuck into developing some new ideas. The past year has seen some real changes and opportunities for me and my work, and i'm very excited and pleased to announce that I have been invited to join Craft Scotland on the strength of my mosaic work.

Craft Scotland is a charity which works to promote a wide range of crafts and creates opportunities for Scottish makers to exhibit, sell and promote their work. With exhibitions, workshops and events which champion craft, its a fantastic opportunity.

Mosaic work is defiantly my first love, and I have lots of plans for it in 2017, including smaller works. Ive been inspired to decorate native Shetland animal shapes, such as otters, birds and rabbits, using a variety of materials, including pottery from local beaches, which makes the art truly unique and special. These will be sold locally as well as online and would make the perfect gift.

The picture is a larger mosaic piece I sold recently using local driftwood, beach pebbles and glass tiles.
